چکیده

The study to examine the calcification rate, adaptation, and biotic response of three tropical coccolithophorids (Emiliania huxleyi, Gephyrocapsa oceanica, Ochosphaera sp) changes in CO2 concentration. Three selected calcifying coccolitophorids were grown at batch culture with system two levels (385 1000 ppm) light dark periods. parameters measured calculation including growth particulate organic carbon content, inorganic chlorophyll a, cell size, photosynthetic, organic, production, photosynthesis, rate. results showed that there was a different carbonate chemistry periods any analyzed parameters. rate microalgae tested decreasing significantly high concentrations (1000 treatment on 14:10 hour light: However, no significant difference between where they illuminated by 24 hours increasing concentration light-dark species-specific responses photosynthesis for microalgae.

Physiological responses of lipids in Emiliania huxleyi and Gephyrocapsa oceanica (Haptophyceae) to growth status and their implications for alkenone paleothermometry

The physiological responses of alkenone unsaturation indices to changes in growth status of E. huxleyi and G. oceanica strains isolated from a water sample of the NW Paci®c were examined using an isothermal batch culture system. In both E. huxleyi and G. oceanica the unsaturation index U37 K0 changed during the growth period, but the e€ects of this change were di€erent. This suggests that genot...

The effect of nitrate and phosphate availability on Emiliania huxleyi (NZEH) physiology under different CO2 scenarios

Growth and calcification of the marine coccolithophorid Emiliania huxleyi is affected by ocean acidification and macronutrients limitation and its response varies between strains. Here we investigated the physiological performance of a highly calcified E. huxleyi strain, NZEH, in a multiparametric experiment. Cells were exposed to different CO2 levels (ranging from 250 to 1314 μatm) under three...

The effect of temperature, salinity and growth rate on the stable hydrogen isotopic composition of long chain alkenones produced by Emiliania huxleyi and Gephyrocapsa oceanica

Two haptophyte algae, Emiliania huxleyi and Gephyrocapsa oceanica, were cultured at different temperatures and salinities to investigate the impact of these factors on the hydrogen isotopic composition of long chain alkenones synthesized by these algae. Results showed that alkenones synthesized by G. oceanica were on average depleted in D by 30‰ compared to those of E. huxleyi when grown under ...
